EPANET User-List archive and forum

The EPANET User-List archive will be available in a day or two on this web site.

Update: the archive is now available at http://www.water-simulation.com/wsp/bb

See Bill James announcement:

This is to announce that we intend to try to build a new archive for the EPANET users-list. Our EPANET users-list is one of the most important sources of information and knowledge about the EPANET program and, for that matter, about water distribution networks modeling. If this information is not readily accessible it may as well be lost!

The plan is to archive only posts whose authors so agree. Authors’ email addresses will not be published, to avoid possible spam.

The trial EPANET users-list archive will be hosted at the www.water-simulation.com/wsp web site. This site has no commercial aspects and is registered to Elad Salomons. Elad has assumed responsibility for updating and maintaining the archive and has agreed to pay for all of the web site fees (registration and hosting). To try to cover some of the expenses of the site the AdSense program with Google may be used. In short, Google displays a few ads on the site that relate to the content published (https://www.google.com/adsense/). I will keep a careful handle on the scope and nature of the ads. Elad will report the costs to me.

Elad will himself build the archive using a free forum tool like the phpBB or punBB. These forum systems can be locked so no one but the owners can add messages. He will start with the 2005 messages and keep updating them as time goes. At the same time past years’ archives will be built.

This email announces our intentions to open the archive in a few days. If you wish your postings to NOT be published in the archive, please send a message to epanet-archive at water-simulation.com. Once you have asked that your messages not be included, you donג€™t need to send further such messages. In the next few days Elad will build the archive for 2005 and make it public.

Please understand that I view this as a trial. As it develops, I would appreciate your comments, if any, off-line, in order to avoid a major digression off-topic.

Thanks and best regards,

Bill James

    Dear friends!
I have a question to do my Master thesis.
Can uoy tell me how to model a variable speed pump in part of
“RULE BASED CONTROL” in EPANET2 ?

    thanks for the attention

I want to solve New York city Water distribution network problem. it is capacity expansion problem.
We have existing New York WDN network, but is is not satisfying the present demands at some nodes so we need to provide parallel pipes to existing pipes at some locations.
So how to approach to this problem.

    Dear Member,

Iam a new user of epanet and running a model designing a new water system for local communities. The model runs ok except the pressure at most of the junction is greater than the elevation of the Tank with the Maximum Water level set at 21.8m, Minimum Water level at 20m and an initial water level of 21.3m. ie. One junction elevation was set at 15m. The simulation reslut for 24 hrs shows a Maximum Head of 40.95 and Minimum of 25.95m while the Maximum Pressure was at 24 and a minimum of 9m.Practically the pressure at each junction will be the difference in elevation of the junction and water level in Tank less losses.Anyone one up there who can help me with this please.

I am a new user EPANET. I would like to know how to represent a pumping station with three submersible pumps
    thank you and good reception

    dear everyone..
can help me to recover my epanet file..
i cannot open anymore file *.net..after my office electric blackout suddenly.

in that file..i have a lot of data of analysis….
it appear”File is probably not valid EPANET project or input file”

    thanks..

    Hello Sir,
I am Bhushan Ladde. In my project i want to used a epanet.dll for to calculate a water flow analysis. so i want to used some native methods of Epanet software. So can you tell me any kind of book or pdf which helps me to understand the method given in epanet.dll ?
its get easy for the implementation purpose .

please reply me on my mail-id.

    Thanks in advance,
    Bhushan

hello I am a new user of epanet. Can someone tell me where could be the problem when after “run” the simulation there is only warning report: Negative pressures at 0:0:00.

    Hi,

What is the best way to model a level regulating valve?

    Thanks

Luv epanet but I am still new in using it. How do I simulate pressure on a tap-off pipe to enable analysis of the branch and pipe network from the pressured tap-off point????

Low Velocities are common in my practises. This causing concern and which parameters can be adjusted to correct the problem. They are never more than 0.3m/s

Hello, I’m owrking with EPANET’s toolkit. Does someone know if it is possible tu rum the simulation under the MINIMUM statistics mode (Using the toolkit). Thanks

  12. Yvonne W says:

Our company has been using EPANET to model a water transmission system which serves over two million people.
I would like to know how widely EPANET is used amongst major utilities like us.
