Read this report by <a title=\"Fire Officials Say Map Did Not Show Fire Hydrant Location, County Promises To Check On Issue\" href=\"http:\/\/www2.wspa.com\/news\/2012\/nov\/05\/fire-officials-say-map-did-not-show-fire-hydrant-l-ar-4902807\/\">wspa<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Firefighters say a mistake on a map did not give them the information they needed to fight a fire over the weekend in Anderson County.<\/p>\n<p>A home caught fire early Saturday morning on Hopewell Ridge off Highway 81.<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters found a fire hydrant on the other side of the street, but the hydrant did not show up on Anderson County\u2019s electronic map that is used by 9-1-1 dispatchers to inform firefighters of the nearest hydrant.<\/p>\n<p>Anderson County Assistant Fire Chief Jimmy Sutherland says the fire department collects information about hydrant locations from water companies and then passes that information on so that it can be entered into the county\u2019s computer mapping system.<\/p>\n<p>Sutherland says there\u2019s not enough manpower for firefighters to keep up with new hydrants that are added, so the fire department relies on water companies to tell fire crews when those additions are made, so that updates can be put into the system.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><object width=\"429\" height=\"295\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/vp.mgnetwork.net\/viewer.swf?u=6d5fa0ec78f7103080ec001ec92a4a0d&amp;z=SPA&amp;embed_player=1\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed width=\"429\" height=\"295\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" src=\"http:\/\/vp.mgnetwork.net\/viewer.swf?u=6d5fa0ec78f7103080ec001ec92a4a0d&amp;z=SPA&amp;embed_player=1\" allowFullScreen=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p>How do your utility keep the records updated?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are your\u00a0Fire Hydrant maps updated?
